About UsExecution System

Execution System

Strategy without execution is fiction. We write the other chapter.

The strategy was right. The capital was available. The execution failed. This is the most common — and most preventable — cause of value destruction in business.

McKinsey estimates that fewer than 30% of strategic initiatives are fully implemented. Bain's research suggests that companies lose up to 40% of their strategic value between the boardroom and the front line. These are not primarily failures of strategy or of ambition — they are failures of execution architecture: the systems, structures, accountabilities and operating rhythms required to translate a decision into a delivered outcome.

Karter McKinley's Execution System was designed specifically to solve this problem. It is a proprietary operating methodology that combines five core components — war room programme management, embedded delivery teams, a real-time performance architecture, a formal knowledge transfer programme, and a structured optimisation cycle — into a single, integrated system. Each component is adapted to the specific operating context of each client.

The critical differentiator is accountability. We do not submit reports. We do not present recommendations and then monitor from a distance. We are inside the business, running workstreams alongside client teams, attending the same governance meetings, and sharing the same pressure to deliver. When something isn't working, we know before the client does — because we are in the room.

Execution System

War room methodology

Dedicated situation rooms. Real-time data. Daily decisions. No delays.

For major transformation programmes, we deploy what we call the War Room Methodology — a dedicated command and control structure that sits alongside the client's own leadership team for the duration of the engagement. The war room integrates all workstreams, surfaces blockers in real time, and creates the conditions for the rapid decision-making that complex programmes demand.

Every war room operates with the same core disciplines: a unified data architecture that gives all workstream leads a live view of performance against milestones; a daily stand-down protocol that identifies and resolves blockers the same day they emerge; a weekly CEO-level review that maintains strategic alignment; and a monthly optimisation cycle that recalibrates priorities based on what the data is showing. The result is an execution velocity that consistently outpaces what client organisations achieve operating alone.

Revenue delivery as a managed programme — not a hope and a forecast

Commercial Execution

Revenue delivery as a managed programme — not a hope and a forecast

We build and run commercial execution programmes that treat revenue generation with the same operational rigour that manufacturers apply to production. Clear KPIs, weekly cadence, daily accountability, and a real-time view of the pipeline — applied at every stage from demand generation to close.

Deploying AI as a live operational asset — not a pilot programme

Technology & AI

Deploying AI as a live operational asset — not a pilot programme

The businesses that gain the most from AI are those that integrate it into their operating model at pace, with clear use cases, measurable performance targets, and the governance structures to manage it responsibly. We design, deploy, and optimise AI and automation programmes as a core component of every execution engagement.

Redesigning the structure for the scale you're trying to reach

Operating Model

Redesigning the structure for the scale you're trying to reach

The operating model that got a business to £50m in revenue is almost never the right model for £200m. We redesign organisation structures, governance frameworks, decision rights, and operating rhythms for the scale our clients are targeting — not the scale they are currently at.

Sustainable results require internal capability — not permanent dependency

Capability Building

Sustainable results require internal capability — not permanent dependency

The most important output of any Karter McKinley engagement is not what we deliver while we are in the building. It is the capability we leave behind. Every engagement includes a formal knowledge transfer and capability-building programme, designed to ensure that the systems and skills required to sustain our work are embedded in the organisation before we step back.
